250 kids, ranging in ages from 6 to 13 participated and enjoyed the 5 days of the Cúl Camp.
The weather was kind to us for the first 4 days, but unfortunately the Friday turned out very wet, but the kids remained in good spirts throughout. The day was improved by the visit of the Connacht LGFA Minor Championship cup, as well as the cups for the u17 and u20 County Championships and the Connacht Club u17 Championship that were won by Oranmore Maree last year. Many of our Junior Coaches played on some of these teams and in particular, we wish our coaches Hannah Mangan and Laoise McDonagh the very best of luck in the Galway Minor squad who play Dublin in the All Ireland Semi Final this coming Thursday.
We are hugely grateful to all our Junior Coaches, the large number of Oranmore Maree & Naomh Mhuire Adult Coaches who volunteered to supervise last week, and to our Camp Co-Ordinators Jack Grealish, Ruben Davitt and Anthony Keady.
We must also sincerely thank the committees in Maree and Oranmore who had the pitches in such good shape for the camp. Also thank you to Maree/Oranmore Soccer Club & the Oranmore Community Development Association whose facilities were kindly made available to us with the extremely heavy rainfall on Monday afternoon.
We are looking forward now to the Camogie & Hurling Cúl Camp, starting next Monday, and for which we hope to again get 250 children practising their skills and enjoying themselves.
