Last week was a momentous week in the Renville Project, with the culmination of our Win-a-Home draw on Monday.  It was fabulous to have a local winner, Jacqueline O’Gorman, whose children play with the club, and for her to come up on the night to Keane’s Kudos to make an appearance on the live draw with Ronan Lardner.  The fundraiser was a great success, with nearly 40,000 tickets sold in the end and gross takings of over €1.5m.  After the substantial costs in these types of fundraisers, the net proceeds will go a long way to helping to fund the construction of our new Dressing Room Building and to reducing the loan we have on the project (currently €800,000).  A big thanks to the Win-a-Home team that put in a huge effort in the last 4 months and to everyone that supported the draw and helped out the team.

On Friday last week we ended the week with our Business Breakfast for our Premium Sponsors, which was kindly hosted by the Connacht Hospitality Group at the Hawthorn Golf Course by Galway.  We want to thank our guest speaker, Supermac’s Pat McDonagh, who entertained the guests with his experiences from many successful years in business.  Also, see below savings offer to our club members from one our Premium Sponsors, Specsavers Opticians, Headford Road.  Just need to show the picture below to claim the discounts.

Also, regarding developments on site at our Chubb Renville Gaelic Grounds, the following is a short update:

a.      Phase I – Pitch Development:  Pitch No. 2 was seeded last week (healthy growth of grass already – see pics below) and should be ready for use by winter next year.  Works left in Phase I are mainly tidying up works, including finishing the internal access roads, completing fencing around Pitch No. 1, installing ball stop nets and erection of the Pitch No. 2 floodlights next summer.

b.      Dressing Room Building:  The pre-cast wall structure is now complete and work has commenced on the external block walls, with roofing to start shortly.

c.       Renville Walkways:  Construction has started on the low level lit walkways, with the walkways around Pitch No. 2 and 4 largely completed, except for lighting.

We would like to also give a big thanks to all the local contractors, businesses and trades who are helping out with the construction of the Dressing Room Building – it is a vital contribution to keeping the construction costs to a reasonable level for the project and the club.  However, we also need lots more help to complete the full fit out and if you are in a position to offer assistance, please contact Derek Cullinane (086 234 7793).

Below is a collage of pictures from our Win-a-Home draw, Business Breakfast and ongoing developments on site.

Thanks again for all the support to the Renville Project – every day is another step to completing our state-of-the-art facilities for this and future generations.
